Per la prima volta ascolterete Elvis cantare in privato "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", "Oh Lonesome Me", "Like A Baby", "Cool Water" (la canzone di Marty Robbins), "His Hand In Mine" e molto altro.

CD - ELVIS: THE BAD NAUHEIM TAPES PART 1 AND 2

L'etichetta ElvisOne ha annunciato la pubblicazione di due CD di Elvis Presley dal titolo "The Bad Nauheim Tapes Part 1 and 2".
L'annuncio arriva a poche ore dalla notizia della scoperta di nuove incisioni private risalenti al periodo del servizio militare in Germania.

I CD vengono presentati così:
E' quasi un miracolo quando viene scoperto qualcosa, specialmente quando arriva dal periodo più bello di Elvis.
Due ore di registrazioni private del 1959 sono troppo belle per essere vere, eppure ci sono.
Queste importanti incisioni sono state fatte mentre Elvis viveva a Bad Nauheim, in Germania. Ascoltando queste registrazioni, è chiaro che sta passando un buon periodo con i suoi amici, ma gli ascoltatori più appassionati noteranno anche che sta progettando il suo futuro musicale.
La musica gospel è sempre stata il suo primo amore, qui rappresentata in modo naturale.
La cosa che più si nota è il continuo ritorno sulla canzone "He Knows Just What I Need", e non è improbabile che l'idea di inciderla sia nata proprio in quel momento.
Lo stesso discorso si potrebbe fare per "Are You Lonesome Tonight?".
Ci sono alcune parti divertenti, ma quello che balza all'occhio (...anzi, all'orecchio...) è l'impegno di Elvis nei confronti di questa musica, il suo livello di ambizione e la sua determinazione nel raggiungere la padronanza di queste canzoni.

Quello che si ascolta in queste significative incisioni è un artista che sapeva di dover reinventare se stesso per poter avere una carriera di successo.
Queste registrazioni private forniscono un affascinante sguardo dentro l'artista che sta rimodellando la sua arte in un momento cruciale della sua carriera e, come tale, sono materiale essenziale per fans e studiosi di Elvis. Solo una piccola parte di queste incisioni sono state pubblicate in precedenza, ma la maggior parte è inedita - quasi 3 ore di Elvis a casa, rilassato, mentre fa quello che ama fare di più - creare musica.

ELVIS PRESLEY - SCOPERTE NUOVE INCISIONI PRIVATE

E' una notizia delle ultime ore la scoperta di nuove registrazioni private di Elvis Presley risalenti al periodo del servizio militare in Germania.
La scoperta è stata fatta da Juan Luis Gonzalez Brugal, che ha ottenuto il nastro in cui sono contenute queste registrazioni in cui Elvis canta insieme a Red West, Rex Mansfield, Charlie Hodge e Lamar Fike.
Sono già state pubblicate canzoni provenienti da quella session, come ad esempio "Earth Angel", "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen", "There's No Tomorrow" e "The Fool", ma questa seconda registrazione contiene canzoni come "He Knows Just What I Need", "Like A Baby", "His Hand In Mine"; poi un arrangiamento completamente diverso della canzone "Stand By Me", ed una bellissima incisione di "Are You Lonesome Tonight?". Tutte canzoni cantate in casa, privatamente, ancora prima di registrarle a livello professionale.
Nel soliloquio di "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", Elvis cambia qualche parola:
"The stage is bare, I'm standing there, in the part of a broken heart, and if you won't come back to me they will bring the curtain down"
anzichè
"Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there, with emptiness all around, and if you won't come back to me, then they can bring the curtain down".
La qualità audio, per la maggior parte dei brani, è ottima e sarebbero state oro che cola se fossero state usate nel nuovo documentario "Elvis - The Searcher", in cui è stata inserita la canzone "Home Sweet Home" cantata da Gladys Presley, mamma di Elvis e ritenuta il pezzo forte della colonna sonora.
Ora sarà compito di Ernst Jorgensen trovare il modo per piazzare queste canzoni in una release di quelle toste.
