Questo cofanetto super deluxe è incentrato sul terzo tour di Elvis del 1977. Le esibizioni dal vivo di Elvis nel 1977 sono spesso criticate e non senza motivo. Ma Elvis stava ancora offrendo ai suoi fans un momento di divertimento; la magia di vedere Elvis di persona probabilmente superava il fatto che spesso offriva performance standard e talvolta anche mediocri. Le reazioni degli spettatori sono molto significative. Urlano, gridano e si scatenano per il loro eroe. Ascoltando le registrazioni di questi spettacoli, non si può trarre altra conclusione se non che gli spettacoli a volte erano al di sotto della media, anche se spesso con momenti salienti! Ma il carisma di Elvis era enorme, il che probabilmente lo ha fatto passare inosservato alla maggior parte dei fans presenti. Questo set contiene registrazioni della soundboard e multitraccia di una parte importante e finale della sua straordinaria carriera.

BOX LIBRO + 4 CD FTD "THE MAKING OF BLUE HAWAII"

Ne avevamo dato breve notizia circa due settimane fa. Ora sono arrivate le conferme ed altri dettagli.
Verrà pubblicato ad Aprile, insieme al set da 3 CD "Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden", il box libro + 4 CD dal titolo + Extended Play "The Making Of Blue Hawaii".
Il libro contiene 387 pagine in cui vengono mostrate fotografie recentemente scoperte, dettagli sulle scene cancellate, pagine della sceneggiatura, memos, contratti e ricordi del cast e della troupe.
85 pagine sono dedicate a fotografie, documenti e dettagli delle session di incisioni, compresa nuova documentazione.
Nei 4 CD si ascoltano le sessions di registrazione, che comprendono 50 tracce inedite. L'audio è stato rimasterizzato in stereo dai nastri originali e le canzoni sono in ordine di registrazione perla prima volta.
E' stato inoltre inserito un picture extended play vinile a 33 giri.
Non si conosce ancora la tracklist completa. Vi daremo altri aggiornamenti non appena arriveranno.

BOX 6 CD + 1 BLU-RAY - ELVIS ON TOUR / PUBBLICATO

E' stata finalmente pubblicata dalla RCA / Legacy Recording la versione fisica del box da 6 CD + 1 Blu-ray "Elvis On Tour", che ne festeggia il 50° anniversario.
Il 02 Dicembre 2022 era stata pubblicata solamente la versione digitale (clicca qui per l'acquisto) a causa di problemi di diritti d'autore.
Il box  include registrazioni inedite di tre concerti di Elvis, più il concerto a San Antonio remixato, le prove pre-tour ed il film della MGM, vincitore del Golden Globe nel 1973, su Blu-ray.
E' stato prodotto da Ernst Mikael Jørgensen e mixato dal produttore Matt Ross-Spang di Memphis, vincitore del Grammy Award®.
Le registrazioni originali sono state fatte da Felton Jarvis e Al Pachucki.

Il disco 1 è stato registrato dal vivo il 09 aprile 1972 all'Hampton Roads Coliseum, Hampton, Virginia, e contiene tutto il materiale inedito.
Il disco 2 è stato registrato dal vivo il 10 aprile 1972 al Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, Virginia, e contiene tutto il materiale inedito.
Il disco 3 è stato registrato dal vivo il 14 aprile 1972 al Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina, e contiene tutto il materiale inedito.
Il disco 4 è stato registrato dal vivo il 18 aprile 1972 alla Convention Center Arena, San Antonio, Texas, e include materiale precedentemente pubblicato (dal cofanetto Elvis: Close-Up del 2003), remixato per questa versione.
Il disco 5 contiene le prove del tour, registrate dal vivo presso gli RCA Recording Studios di Hollywood, California, il 30 e 31 marzo 1972. Il disco è composto principalmente da brani inediti oltre a esibizioni precedentemente disponibili nelle uscite ufficiali da collezione di Elvis Presley Elvis On Tour - The Rehearsals (Follow That Dream CD 2004) e 6363 Sunset Boulevard (Follow That Dream CD 2001) e The Great Performances (RCA 1990).
Il disco 6 completa le prove di Elvis con la sua band agli RCA Recordings Studios con esibizioni registrate il 31 marzo 1972. Il disco include versioni inedite di "For The Good Times" di Kris Kristofferson, nonché esibizioni precedentemente disponibili solo su 6363 Sunset Boulevard, Elvis On Tour - Le prove e Amazing Grace (RCA 2CD 1994).

Durante il tour nazionale, che si è svolto in tutto il paese nel 1972, registrando il tutto esaurito, Elvis si divertiva sul palco e trovava nuovi elettrizzanti modi per creare un legame con il pubblico ad ogni spettacolo. Lavorando con una band ed una scaletta di sua scelta, Elvis stava proponendo la musica che amava di più - dal pop, gospel e country tradizionale al blues e rock e successi contemporanei - mentre trasformava i suoi più grandi successi con nuovi arrangiamenti, cambiando la nostalgia in un concerto indimenticabile ricco di immediatezza.
I pluripremiati registi Pierre Adidge e Robert Abel (Mad Dogs & Englishmen) sono andati in tour con Elvis Presley e la sua band con pass ad accesso illimitato, telecamere e troupe per raccontare il Re del Rock & Roll al suo apice sul palco nel film documentario della MGM "Elvis On Tour".
Il film cattura Elvis, l'essere umano che guida il mito, dietro le quinte nel backstage con gli occhi aperti e le difese abbassate. Secondo il comunicato stampa originale della MGM, il film "Elvis On Tour" "...offre il primo sguardo intimo sull'enigmatico ragazzo di campagna che è diventato il musicista più celebre del mondo".
Sia documentario che film-concerto, "Elvis On Tour" presenta sequenze di montaggio supervisionate da Martin Scorsese.
Il film ha debuttato nei cinema il 01 Novembre 1972.
Il cofanetto Elvis On Tour include affascinanti note di copertina relative al dietro le quinte, grazie a Jerry Schilling, amico personale di lunga data e membro della cerchia ristretta di Elvis; contiene anche un saggio illuminante dello storico/musicista del rock Warren Zanes, membro fondatore dei Del Fuegos e professore alla New York University.
Secondo Zanes: "Le scalette e le esibizioni del periodo di "Elvis On Tour" ci consegnano una cosa rara: una leggenda degli anni Cinquanta che lavorava nei primi anni Settanta e che stava facendo vivere ancora al suo pubblico esperienze nuove".
La band principale, che includeva Ronnie Tutt , James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, Jerry Scheff, John Wilkinson, Charlie Hodge, Sweet Inspirations, JD Sumner e Stamps Quartet,e un'orchestra guidata da Joe Guercio, aveva raggiunto livelli in cui Elvis poteva iniettare spontaneità, consentendo agli spettacoli nell'arena di avere una misura dell'inaspettato.
Il 1972 fu un anno di centosessantacinque spettacoli. Nelle parole di Jorgensen, è stato il "culmine della sua carriera".
Mentre il "Comeback Special" del '68 ha segnato il punto significativo in cui Presley è tornato a esibirsi dal vivo, il 1972 è stato l'anno in cui l'artista ha rivelato in modo più completo cosa voleva fare con l'energia creativa che ha dato il via a un tale ritorno.

34 minuti di filmati rari e per la maggior parte inediti in una strepitosa qualità mai vista prima del viaggio di Elvis "From Sea To Shining Sea" tra due performance della Vigilia di Capodanno nel 1976.
Nel DVD si racconta nel dettaglio la storia del tour di Elvis durante l'anno del bicentenario sul palco e "on the road".
Negli ultimi anni abbiamo investito molto nell'acquisizione di parecchie bobine di filmati originali ed all'inizio di quest'anno abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di acquistare il concerto di Elvis a Fort Worth del 03 Giugno 1976.
I 30 minuti di filmati valgono ogni dollaro speso. La bobina del film è stata restaurata con una risoluzione 4K Ultra HD, in modo da poter estrarre molti più dettagli possibile dalla pellicola analogica.
Confrontando il materiale di partenza ed il risultato finale, dopo l'elaborazione con la migliore tecnologia, si rimane stupiti dalla quantità di informazioni che ci sono ancora nel filmato originale su cui si dovrebbe lavorare con attenzione per godersi tutto come non ha potuto fare nemmeno colui che ha fatto le riprese a suo tempo.
