Qualche giorno fa era stata data notizia della ripubblicazione da parte di Sony Music CMG del doppio vinile "ELV1S - 30#1 Hits".
Ora è arrivato un aggiornamento secondo cui il due vinili saranno color oro.
La pubblicazione è prevista per il 12 Ottobre 2018.

ELVIS PRESLEY - SCOPERTE NUOVE INCISIONI PRIVATE

E' una notizia delle ultime ore la scoperta di nuove registrazioni private di Elvis Presley risalenti al periodo del servizio militare in Germania.
La scoperta è stata fatta da Juan Luis Gonzalez Brugal, che ha ottenuto il nastro in cui sono contenute queste registrazioni in cui Elvis canta insieme a Red West, Rex Mansfield, Charlie Hodge e Lamar Fike.
Sono già state pubblicate canzoni provenienti da quella session, come ad esempio "Earth Angel", "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen", "There's No Tomorrow" e "The Fool", ma questa seconda registrazione contiene canzoni come "He Knows Just What I Need", "Like A Baby", "His Hand In Mine"; poi un arrangiamento completamente diverso della canzone "Stand By Me", ed una bellissima incisione di "Are You Lonesome Tonight?". Tutte canzoni cantate in casa, privatamente, ancora prima di registrarle a livello professionale.
Nel soliloquio di "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", Elvis cambia qualche parola:
"The stage is bare, I'm standing there, in the part of a broken heart, and if you won't come back to me they will bring the curtain down"
anzichè
"Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there, with emptiness all around, and if you won't come back to me, then they can bring the curtain down".
La qualità audio, per la maggior parte dei brani, è ottima e sarebbero state oro che cola se fossero state usate nel nuovo documentario "Elvis - The Searcher", in cui è stata inserita la canzone "Home Sweet Home" cantata da Gladys Presley, mamma di Elvis e ritenuta il pezzo forte della colonna sonora.
Ora sarà compito di Ernst Jorgensen trovare il modo per piazzare queste canzoni in una release di quelle toste.

ASTA - LEGENDS: ICON FILM & MUSIC MEMORABILIA / ELVIS PRESLEY

Alla fine di Agosto avevamo dato notizia della messa all'asta della casa mobile di Elvis Presley e Priscilla alla GWS "Legends: Iconic Film & Music Memorabilia Auction", insieme ad altri oggetti appartenuti a lui e ad altre celebrità del mondo della musica e del cinema.
Inizialmente il prezzo di vendita comunicato - da confermare - è stato 55.000 dollari. In realtà, è stata venduta per 67.650 dollari.
Un signore di nome Max Wiggins, proveniente da Kemah, in Texas, ha pagato 67.650 dollari per appropriarsi di questo pezzo di storia di Elvis Presley ed ha dichiarato che sarebbe stato disposto a sborsare qualsiasi cifra per poterlo avere.
Elvis Presley e Priscilla hanno usato questa casa mobile per vacanze e come alloggio al Circle G Ranch.
Dato che è risaputo che il periodo trascorso al Circle G è stato tra quelli più felici per Elvis, il signor Wiggins pensa di riportare il caravan in Mississippi, in modo che i fans lo possano vedere.
Spera anche di poterlo esporre in qualche mostra dedicata ad Elvis Presley e di poterlo affittare ai fans per occasioni speciali.

LIBRO - THE COMEBACK: ELVIS AND THE STORY OF THE '68 SPECIAL

E' stato pubblicato il libro di Simon Goddard "The Comeback: Elvis and the Story of the '68 Special".
Così viene presentato il libro:
"1968. Un anno di lotte, rivoluzioni e cambiamenti  nel mondo del rock'n'roll.
Tranne che per Elvis Presley. Il re degli anni '50 è diventato il clown degli anni '60, che sforna brutta musica in film tristi; uno spettro umiliante della sua gloria passata.
Secondo le parole del giovane regista addetto al suo primo special televisivo, la reputazione di Elvis era finita nel bagno".
In ogni caso, lo stesso regista, Steve Binder, stava per salvarla. Insieme si sono imbarcati nella battaglia più grande nella vita di Elvis.
Superando insicurezza, paranoia, un matrimonio vacillante, le censure dei network, farmaci, la protezione esagerata della Memphis Mafia, i tentativi di sabotaggio del Colonnello Tom Parker ed il caldo soffocante del suo completo di pelle nera, che sarebbe diventato presto iconico, con il suo special televisivo del 1968, Elvis dona l'esibizione determinante della sua carriera.
Non ha mai cantato in modo così duro, fatto rock in modo più selvaggio e sexy.

ELVIS PRESLEY - LA SUA VOCE NEI NEGOZI "POUNDLAND" IN UK

Chissà che faccia faranno i clienti dei supermercati "Poundland" in UK quando, alle casse veloci, sentiranno parlare la voce di Elvis Presley!
La catena di discount, infatti, ha installato la voce di Elvis Presley in oltre 400 negozi su tutto il territorio nazionale, e per festeggiare il lancio di questa iniziativa, ha trasformato il negozio di Birmingham in una specie di Graceland per un giorno, con tanto di impersonator di Elvis Presley che, indossando scarpe blu scamosciate (blue suede shoes) giravano tra gli scaffali.
L'iniziativa durerà fino alla fine di Settembre.
Barry Williams, direttore della catena Poundland in Uk ed in Irlanda ha dichiarato: "Ho sempre avuto in mente di portare Elvis ai Poundland. Siamo entusiasti delle reazioni che vediamo nei negozi. La voce di Elvis è immediatamente riconoscibile, e speriamo lo sia anche l'umorismo di Poundland".
